free_parkingAnne Arundel County today announced the John Whitmore Parking Garage on Clay Street will be open to the public for the Annapolis New Year’s Eve Celebration free of charge. This garage is located on the corner of Clay and Washington Streets.  The City of Annapolis Garages will be charging the “special event” rate–$10 to $20 at Hillman, Gotts Court, Knighton, and Park Place.

Celebration attendees can park their vehicles from 4:00 p.m. on December 31, 2014 to noon on January 1, 2015 without paying the standard parking fees.

“New Year’s Eve should be a time for safe celebration for all Anne Arundel County citizens,” said County Executive Steve Schuh. “By offering the added convenience of free parking, we hope to provide an opportunity for all to enjoy downtown Annapolis while ringing in the New Year.”

The Whitmore Garage is located at 25 Clay Street between Calvert and Washington Streets.

“I am grateful to County Executive Schuh for opening the garage to the public for this annual Annapolis celebration as we gather to welcome in the New Year,” Mayor Michael Pantelides said.

The New Year’s Eve Celebration begins at 3 p.m. at City Dock and ends at Midnight with the fireworks display.  For more information on the New Year’s Eve events, go to www.annapolis.gov
